Innovative soft skills diagnostic tools will be launched in Bulgaria

Innovative soft skills diagnostic and job-matching tool will be transferred in six EU countries within an international project funded under the EU Leonardo da Vinci Programme (DAISS Project), with Industry Watch Group participating as one of the partners in the consortium. The project is financed by the European commission. The soft skills are the qualities, personal characteristics and social skills that everybody possesses to some extent. For example, some people make friends easily and this could be valuable skill in sales. Others are accurate and could easily take rational decisions under pressure. Given individual could have inclination for learning foreign languages and working smoothly with people from different ethnical background. All these are considered as valuable soft skills.

The innovative diagnostic tool is developed by the UK consulting company Apricot Training Management and is validated by the University of Cambridge. It has been applied successfully by many employers, universities and colleges in UK.   Within the DAISS project the tool will be addapted to the needs of the employers from Bulgaria, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Lithuania and Romania.

The innovative diagnostic tool allows for the following:

1/ employers have the opportunity to be assisted to produce a detailed person specification for a work role;

2/ job-applicants have the opportunity to provide responses to an online Footprint® diagnostic and to receive personal profiles;

3/ The tool gathers and analyses participant responses and then uses an innovative ‘matching’ component to align employer requirements with the ‘soft skills’, learning styles and work preferences of adults seeking work.

The ultimate goal is to produce a best fit solution for both employers and job seekers.

Currently the tool is being translated and addapted to meet the specific needs of employers, VET providers and the target adult groups in each of the partner states. The translation and adaptation phase will be followed by extensive piloting.
